A great day at the library!
Our day at the Danbury Library was wonderful. They had a big sign outside welcoming us! Everyone there was just great. We had about 25 people come and it seemed that they all had a great time. We gave them a coupon for a free class to make a disapearing nine patch table runner. I think we made 25 new friends today!
Before we left our friend Terri came by with her Day and Night quilt. Terri took the class a few weeks ago and finished her top! She came in today to get her backing fabric.
Isn't it beautiful?

Have you been to the library lately?

This Sunday Ginny and I are going to the Danbury Library for a program about quilting. I love the Danbury Library. They always have wonderful programs for adults and children about all sorts of things. We will be talking about how quilting has changed over the years and the wonderful techniques and gadgets that we have now to help us quilt faster and better. Come and visit... the library is a wonderful place to be!

I am in love with ribbon

I layered my house quilt, did the stitching in the ditch, then I got stuck. What do I do now?
Last night during one of my sleepless nights, I came up with an idea.... the new ribbon.
It looks like a curvy road. I used the 820 with it's wonderful dual feed feature.
I got 3 rows of the pink ribbon added, then I decided to see what the green would look like on the long rows.
The ribbon fits perfectly in the sashing.
This quilt may never get done... I keep adding more and more to it!

Look what Ginny brought home...
Wow, did it every make it so much easier.
First I line up the strip set with the 0 line on the ruler.
Next I put my rotary cutter in the 2 1/2 inch slot and cut. I cut all of my pieces 2 1/2 inches....
See how easy and fast....

Happy Columbus Day

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue....
There is more to that poem.... but I don't remember the rest.
Come on and sail over to the quilt shop today.... we just got these new fabrics in. They are from Moda. This main fabric is a heavier weight than quilting cottons. It would be great for bags, pillows, etc. Plus we have coordinating prints to go with them.

Feels like quilting weather to me!

Did you get outside today? There is a nip in the air. Feels like quilting weather for sure now!
I finished the last row of houses today! I'll layer it tomorrow. I'm going to look for "people" "car" and "cat and dog" buttons to add to my house quilt.
Take a minute tomorrow and look at the trees... suddenly fall has really arrived.
The reds, yellows, oranges and browns look so beautiful together.
This is our newest tumbler... made out of pretty floral fabrics.
We have this all packaged up in a tumbler and finishing kits ready for you!
Stop in soon to see us!

Amy's new quilt

Amy Devine just made this gorgeous new quilt.... the top is finished, she will quilt it herself.
Isn't it beautiful. We have these fabrics at the store. I just love the colors in them.
I spent my Saturday cleaning my sewing room, really cleaning it. I opened the drawers and the cupboards, took everything out and sorted, refolded, and put some back.
I filled 3 bags with fabrics to donate to project Linus. I found about 8 UFO projects.
Want to get reinspired to quilt? Clean out your sewing area... it gets your creative juices flowing again!
Now I have room for more goodies! :)

Just because you work at a quilt shop....
Just because you work at a quilt shop, doesn't mean you don't mess up sometimes.
I got up early, had a few minutes, so I decided I could get one more row done on my houses. I pinned, I matched seams... it came out perfectly, until I really looked at it.
I sewed the last row on upside down.
Isn't that always the way....
I"m bringing it to school today... we've been talking about making mistakes... this is a doozie!
Have a great day everyone!
