Hello Dotty

I think I posted last week about how I cut 72 different fabrics last week to start a new project.
Our new project is a great new class that we will be having at the Quilt Shop starting in January.
It is called Let's Go Dotty! This will be a sampler quilt made out of 12 different blocks. Each block will use several dotted fabrics. We will meet once a month to make a block, but that's not all. Class members will also get a separate "Dotty" pattern for different projects, as well as a recipe for a "dotty" snack each month.
Class fee is $25 per month- you will get- fat quarter pack of 6 dotty fabrics, block pattern, project pattern and a recipe, plus the class on how to construct the block. At the end of the year you will have 72 different "dotty" fabrics.
This class will start January 23rd. As soon as I finish the quilt I will post it here. This is going to be lots of fun. Blog readers can start signing up now before the new schedule is out.
Call us today to sign up! :) Class size is limited so sign up soon!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

My cabinet is here!

It was a family affair, my son, my husband and I went to pick up the cabinet. No easy task, but it was so worth it. My Bernina 830 now is in it's proper home. The electric lift works like a charm, It took me the afternoon to put my room back together again, but I was able to piece the front of a bali pop bag in my new set up.
Just don't ask me where to find anything.
Stop in soon to see the new Koala cabinets They are awesome!

Need a baby quilt?

Need a baby quilt in a hurry? This is one for you. This is made from a Mother Goose panel. It has a pieced border made from coordinating prints.
We have this available in a kit too!
The one next to it is not in a kit, but we still have the adorable panel that it was made from. We have plenty of fabrics that you can use with it to create a beautiful quilt for a young person.

oh no!

The new cabinets have arrived. Ginny says they are absolutely wonderful and so well made. One of the ones that arrived today is mine. This means, empty the old cabinet, to make room for the new one. It's like moving into a new house. I will empty each drawer, put things in plastic bags, or bins. And just how will I hide everything that is in there from my husband....
Wish me luck!

Look what came to school today

Meet Fred...
Fred arrived at school today. Fred was supposed to be a tadpole, but he decided to turn into a frog during his journey from California.
The kids love him, I am not so sure.
Fred does not eat the tadpole food, he wants live bugs..
Anyone got any live bugs...
Then as I was leaving school, someone told me Fred needs a rock to sit on.. otherwise he will drown.
I think I'll stick with the fabric frogs I made. They don't eat live bugs.

At the Quilt Shop this weekend, we have a show in NJ this weekend. Ginny will be there tomorrow and Saturday.
Check out our website for more details.
Wish me luck with Fred.

Flannels are back!

Remember our old store, the little yellow house. Remember climbing the stairs and seeing all of the wonderful flannels we used to have upstairs?
We haven't had flannels in a while, so we were thrilled when these new ones arrived this week.
They are from Robert Kaufman and just so soft and pretty!
Ginny already started a project from them! :)

hand vs machine

I grew up doing lots of hand work. I used to do crewel, needlepoint, macrame, you name it, I did it. That was then, this is now.
One of the Clothesline Club projects is a hand embroidered pillow.
I tried, honestly I did. I traced the design, I bought all of that floss, I bought a hoop, and I started.
Well, this is how far I got... I did try. I started.
The class is next Saturday... before then I need to finish quilting a quilt, then get the binding on it, I had to put binding on two other quilts for Ginny to take to the show, and..... somehow make this pillow. What to do?
Well, I looked up and there sat my Bernina 830. I went to my computer, did a search for Nursery Rhyme machine embroidery designs. It took me right to the OESD website and I was able to download this design of the dish and the spoon. It isn't Little Bo Peep, but it is a nursery rhyme and it does look almost the same.
So I set up my 830, I had it all stitched out in 10 minutes. Now to make the pillow. :)
I still love handwork, but when I'm in a time crunch... nothing beats my Bernina 830!
