whoops I did it again

Last Spring I found this fabric that I just loved, and then I found it some friends. It turned into my Kaleidoscope quilt.
Well..... today when I got to the Quilt Shop, I saw a new collection of fabric from "In the Beginning" called Breeze. I cut the tumbler kits from it, but then I didn't put it away. Instead I left it near the cutting table and tried to think of a reason that I needed it. That didn't work, so I just went ahead and bought a little of each piece. Ok, so maybe I bought a lot of 2 of the pieces, but quilts need borders.
Now it is sitting in my sewing room, patiently waiting. I'm thinking about a basket quilt, but I am open to any suggestions. Any ideas out there?

Thirsty for a new quilt? Try a tumbler kit...

Here is a sneak peak at some of the quilts that will make their debut at the Somers Quilt Show next weekend. They are all tumbler kits, $45, and we have finishing kits for $22. During the month of May if you bring in your finished tumbler quilt top, you can get 20% off of your backing fabric. Each tumbler quilt takes 3 1/2 yards of fabric for backing, so that is a great savings.

Hope to see you at the show!

I'm back!

I am sorry for not blogging sooner, we took a trip to Florida! First time in 24 years. One day we went to Animal Kingdom, I saw a gorilla.....

and a hippo, who just kept swimming around and around and around.....
and then I saw Mary Poppins...
but after that, I went to a better place. I was missing my sewing machine. Wouldn't you know I found a Bernina dealer in Florida who let me come and pet an 830. She even had a skeleton of an 830.

Now I am home, back with my own Bernina 830. So what is new at the quilt shop? Well, while I was gone, Lois was a busy bee cutting lots of new tumbler kits. They will all be displayed at the Northern Star Quilt Guild show next weekend. Stay tuned, I'll post little hints during the week.
I will be working at the store tomorrow, then I'll see what new things came while I was gone.
Like the song says, "be it ever so humble there's not place like home, ( or your neighborhood quilt shop)

One yard wonder projects are coming in...

Remember our One Yard Wonder challenge... make 3 projects, get a yard of fabric for free? Well, they are starting to come in. Our friend Phyllis came in today with her first project, she made this bulletin board. She even put her first note on it, reminding her to come to class on Saturday for Dottie class! Nice job Phyllis!

never give up!

Today was our pickle dish class. Our friend Alice was having a hard time putting her pickle blocks together. She was almost ready to just give up, but then Amy came to the rescue and got her back on track. Look at the great job she did on her block.

New fabrics....

These new fabrics arrived yesterday. They are Kaffe Fasset fabrics, but they are in Rayon!
As Ginny unwrapped them yesterday, Lois and I were figuring out what skirts we can make from these fabrics.
They are $12.49 a yard and about 56 inches wide.

What class should you take?

So what class are you going to sign up for? I'm thinking about "Facet". Amy, ( not even 2 fractured ankles can stop her) made this quilt. It is from the new Kaffe Fasset book, Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts. It looks hard, but Amy put her spin on it to make it easy for us to do! Best part is, it uses a lot of different fabrics. This might be a good chance to use up some of my stash, or add to it!
This class is Thursday May 27th and June 3- 6:30-8:30
or Thursday June 10 and 17, from 10-12.
Hope I see you in class!

Happy Easter

I'm giving you a sneak peak at the new schedule... I'd like you to meet, Eloise...
She was just finished this morning.
She still needs a bow, but she is stuffed and ready for her debut at the Quilt Shop on Monday.
Eloise is an Indygo Junction pattern.
We will be having a class on Eloise, so you can make one of your own. I used a flannel fabric with corduroy ears. She is very soft and cuddly. I walked around the store yesterday just carrying her body with no head. What is it about flannel that just makes us want to pet it?
In the pattern for Eloise, is a smaller version for an elephant named Elmore. I'm going to try him next. Stay tuned, more hints are coming! Have a wonderful Easter.
