back to school

School starts here on Thursday. If you have kids, it's a wonderful day! If you don't have kids.... it can still be a wonderful day. You may not be in school anymore, but that doesn't mean you ever stop learning. This would be a great time to take a quilt class. Do something for yourself! When was the last time you did that?
One of our easiest classes this schedule is called Strip Tease. We provide the strips, already precut. You will get your strips in a bag, you come into class, sit down and sew. This is a one day class, so it isn't a big commitment, Sat Oct 16 12-4 Class fee $60
Call us today and save your spot. 203-743-0543

Remember, our sale starts Friday at 9:00. Shop early for best selection!

New schedule is coming soon!

Our fall schedule will be out soon. We are working hard getting all the class samples ready. I found this one today on the Bernina 830, being quilted. This is called Popsicle Sticks, it is a pattern by Terri Atkinson. I love the fabrics Ginny picked for it.

progress

I started this quilt this morning, cutting the fabric from Holland into 6 1/2 inch squares. Then I cut the Hungarian Blue prints into 2 1/2 inch strips. From each strip I cut 2 10 1/2 inch pieces, and 2 6 1/2 inch pieces. I used my short cut ruler. If you have never tried the short cut ruler, run don't walk to get one. It makes cutting strips so much easier. Here is one of the first finished blocks.

I do not need blue fabric... I do not need blue fabric

Oh yes I do. All summer long I have been going to the gym with my friend Rosemary to spin classes. Rosemary took a bike trip through Holland in July and brought me back this piece of fabric. Now how could I not use this? It is just too precious. So naturally, I thought about those beautiful new Hungarian Blue fabrics that we just got at the Quilt Shop.

You guessed it.... I bought some!

So, now what do I do with them. Ginny gave me a great idea. A few years ago she designed a pattern called Happy Scrappy. It's a square with borders around it, easy, fun and so pretty.
Stop in to see my progress!

Don't forget, our big sale this Friday and Saturday, Aug 27 and 28. We have been cleaning out the closets, the cupboards, under the tables, all of our hiding places to have lots of goodies for you to buy .

Can you tell we love these new machines?

Yes, we love the new 3 series from Bernina. The 330, 350 and the 380 are just wonderful.
I also love the new "Gidget" table that we have. This table holds your machine, but also folds up flat, and wheels away for easy storage. It also has a flat top so you can use it for parties, crafts, etc.
Stop in and see it for yourself. It's great for a new sewer, a sewer who doesn't have room for a full size cabinet, or an advanced sewer who takes their machine with them on trips!

These blues will make you happy

Look at these new fabrics that have arrived.... I looked at them from afar this afternoon, then walked by them, trying hard not to look at them, ( yeah but that didn't work). I am going back tomorrow to get a half yard of each. They are just too beautiful.

There are 3 of them, the 330, the 350 and the 380. If you purchase any series 3 machine you can get a free walking foot, ( a $160 value). Come check them out soon!

If you have never tried this quilt, you are in for a treat. It works up so quick and the results are stunning. Have a wonderful vacation Lois!
