It's raining here, first time in a long time. It's not just raining raindrops, the leaves are falling too. It's a perfect day for quilting. Tonight I will enjoy snuggling in my son's quilt while I finish sewing the last 18 inches of binding. I have about 5 projects calling my name in my sewing room too.
Our classes at the Quilt Shop have filled up quickly, but there is room left in some. We have started waiting lists for others.
Remember, our sew pink event is coming up soon! Sign up today so you don't get left out.
Groovy girls is this Sunday, October 3rd.
If you haven't signed up for a class yet, fall is the perfect time!

Deadlines....

Don't you just hate deadlines... I do. We have been working on a cooperative project here at the quilt shop. Ginny's daughter is having a baby, so Lois, Amy and I made a quilt. Her theme is "lambs". Amy found this pattern, we picked the fabrics together. Amy did the applique, Lois pieced the blocks and the top, I quilted it. I got the layered quilt on Wednesday...... and the shower is next Sunday. Talk about pressure.
I just finished it this afternoon. I am thrilled with the quilting. My Bernina 830 made it so easy. Plus I used the new Aurifil thread. Tomorrow it goes to Amy for her wonderful binding skills. I have a lamb gift bag all ready.
Phew.... we made it.

Yesterday was our first designer purse class. Everyone finished their purse. We have a waiting list started for another purse class. If you are interested, call us. We need at least 3 people to start a class.
This would make a great holiday present.

New cabinets

Look at this adorable sewing cabinet. This is called Olivia. I just love the color and the gingerbread trim. We are selling this for $449. You will need to put it together, but it just takes a screwdriver. We also have the matching cutting table available too! I love the green color!

Another great day

Today was so much fun. We had Let's Go Dottie this morning. Our friend Ronnie brought in her almost finished Dottie quilt. She is making it for her granddaughter. She is one lucky girl.

We all oohed and aahed... but then she turned the quilt over. This was the back.

Great job!

tiny ones

Have you seen these new patterns from Pieced Tree patterns? They are called tiny ones and are just wonderful. We have a great selection of them. They are easy to store, plus they have a nice selection of different projects. This is a new one we will be getting soon, it is called ShooFly Shuffle. We used our Organic fabrics from Kaufman to make this table runner.
Remember, tomorrow we are open from 12-4, to celebrate our first Sunday... we are going to double punch keytags. Stop in to see us! We have lots of new fabrics, patterns, etc.

my tiny makeover

My sewing room is tiny. I have become a master of storage. I had a dresser in it that was my daughter's changing table when she was a baby. It held a lot of fabric, but it was big and took up quite a bit of room. I ordered the corner top from Koala. My dresser is now gone, I turned my rollabout cart on an angle, put this corner top on top of it, and I now have a bigger workspace next to my machine cabinet. My serger has a home, and I am thinking.... I could put a small cutting mat on it. I have to experiment with it. It's almost like having a new studio. If you are thinking about your own sewing space, come visit us and see all of the options that the Koala cabinets offer. If your space is limited, you may want to look at the Arrow cabinets that we have too.
Having a cabinet makes all the difference in your work.

Have you seen Happy Scrappy

Everyone knows Ginny's first pattern Fabric Fling. Did you know she wrote another one? It's called Happy Scrappy. I had never tried it until last week. My friend Rosemary went to the Netherlands and brought me home 2 pieces of quilt fabric. One was a white background with wooden shoes, windmills, tulips, little Dutch children, etc. The other was a white background with blue flowers with a little touch of silver. Once I saw them I thought about the new Hungarian Blue collection from Clothworks that we just got at the Quilt Shop. Ginny suggested I try Happy Scrappy.
This is the result. It was so easy. It finishes up to a nice size, 66 by 86. Now to quilt it. I am going to quilt it myself, as soon as I figure out what design to quilt it with.
Any ideas out there?

a new Amy Butler book

Amy Butler's new book has arrived at the quilt shop. Amy Butler's Style Stitches is a book filled with 26 wonderful bag patterns. The beautiful color pictures and wonderful directions make this a must have book for your collection. The holidays are just around the corner, some of these bags would be great gifts for people on your list.
