Feeling Groovy!

Today was our second Groovy Girls meeting. Groovy Girl members get a punch card. Each time they bring in something for show and tell, they get a punch. When they get 12 punches, they win a prize. My Sunday Groovy Girls outdid themselves. I hung a clothesline in the classroom and hung up their show and tell items. We had 15 different projects, some Pockets to go, some Cash and Carry, and a few original items too! Everyone voted on their favorites. It was a fun morning!
Donna brought her finished Let's Go Dottie quilt top! She did a great job! Thanks Donna for sharing this with us.

What a busy day!

Today was a busy one for sure! First we had the first meeting of the Breakfast Club this morning. It was so much fun.

Then we had our second purse class. Everyone finished their purse and everyone bought more handles and fabrics to make another one! They loved doing the decorative stitches with our wonderful Bernina machines. We have one more class scheduled for November 6th from 2-6. If you would like to sign up, call soon, this class is filling up too! These are the purses that our dear friends Evelyn and Maureen made.

Meanwhile while that was going on, our friend Terri came in with a bag filled with show and tell.
Terri does beautiful work! I love when she brings in her projects.

Tomorrow is our second Groovy Girl meeting. The store is open from 12-4. Come on over and see us!

Sew Pink was wonderful

Yesterday was our first sew pink event. We had a great time. Everyone made the cell phone pouch, using lots of great features on all of the Bernina sewing machines. People loved the start stop button, the buttonhole, and the edge stitch foot.

If you missed the first Sew Pink event, you are in luck. We are doing it again on Thursday night, October 14th from 6:30-8:30. You can still sign up. Cost of the event is $10, with part of it being donated to the Susan G Koman foundation.

Stand and Stow

Our first Groovy Girl meetings were this past week. This was the project that was demonstrated. It is a new pattern, only sold at Groovy Girl quilt shops, called Stand and Stow by Terry Atkinson.
I am making these for holiday gifts for my friends at school, out of this great cat in the hat fabrics.
These bags fold up flat, just like those bags you get at the grocery store, except these bags are so much prettier! The pattern has directions for 3 different sizes, small, medium and large. They are easy to make, and the pattern has great tips for making quick handles. We have the pattern at the store.
You can still sign up for Groovy girl. Our next meeting has a "travel" theme.
Remember, tomorrow is our Sew Pink event. We also have it on Thursday night.

a celebrity visit

Now don't get too excited.... it isn't Alex Anderson, or Ricky Tims....
It is, The Cat in the Hat.
I will be dressed as the Cat in the Hat. We are hoping to see Ginny's grandchildren tomorrow, so in typical Quilt Shop fashion, we want to show them a good time.
Come on over for the fun. Hey, you can have your picture taken with the cat in the hat.....
Remember, we have that great Dr Seuss fabric too!
