a new project

Yes, this is my messy space. I am starting a new project today. This week we got a new book into the store, Radiant Star by Eleanor Burns. This is a new edition of an older book. So far so good, ( of course all I did was cut strips, but it is a start)
The funny thing is, this was one of the first quilts that I ever made once I finished my sampler quilt. I took a class long ago, probably in 1982 or 83 from a store called Cross Patch in Garrison NY. My teacher was Claire, from Country Quilter. We learned how to make this star. It was the first time I had seen a rotary cutter, and the first time I had seen a BERNINA. After I took that class, I bought my first BERNINA. I'm anxious to see how this quilt comes out. I hope I've learned a few things along the way! Stay tuned!

Thursday Feb 3rd

Hi everyone. They are predicting that the roads will freeze up tonight, and probably be slippery in the morning. The Quilt Shop may open just a little bit later than usual. As always, call before you come over. Stay safe out there!

Let's have some fun!

Our next Groovy Girl meeting will be on the topic of .... messy sewing rooms! Now I know that none of you have a messy sewing area. :)
I'd like to create a collage of photos of sewing areas. Please e mail us, or drop off a photo of your sewing area....NO NAMES WILL BE DISPLAYED! NO ONE WILL KNOW THAT IT IS YOUR WORKSPACE!
No fair cleaning up before you take the picture... just take it!
Let's have some fun!

ice ice ice

Part two of this storm.... but, for the first time ever I was home to see Phil the groundhog make his prediction. Phil says an early spring... I sure hope so!
I just keep thinking I am lucky that I have a great hobby like quilting. I can always work on something. This morning I got up early, made some soup,( in case we lose power) and then got things ready for Groovy Girls this month. Now if you haven't joined us in Groovy Girls, you are missing a fun time. Created by Terry Atkinson of Atkinson Designs, each lecture/demo meeting has fast, easy, fun projects that will teach you a new technique. This month we are going to be learning about binding. Our project will be a fold and go wallet to help us organize. Plus you will learn how to cut bias binding, and apply it to curved edges. For your class fee, you get the pattern for the project, the technique sheet, plus other goodies!
We meet on Sunday morning, Feb 27th from 10-12 and Thursday evening March 3rd from 6:30-8:30. The more the merrier!
