Stop in soon We'd love to see you.

A new friend

Let's twist

I know..... I left you all hanging. The stomach bug arrived last Sunday, and I've been away from the computer and the sewing machine...
So, I left off with this clue.... It was 10 inch squares all sewn together .....
Then I added a border.....

and now comes the fun. I used my "Let's Twist " tool to cut this all up!

You really can't see the tool in the picture, it is a plexiglass square with built in grippers on the corners. It has intersecting lines on it that you line up with your seams. Line up the ruler.... and cut all around it...
Then you get........

You cut 6 blocks from a row..... sew them together. Cut another row and you will wind up with...

Confused? Don't worry. We have a great book that teaches you how to do it, but even better.... this is going to be a class in our next schedule. Let me be the one to tell you, this is fun! Once you start cutting up that first quilt top, you just can't stop, you want to keep going to see what your pinwheels will look like.
I'll bring this to the store on Saturday if you want to come by and see my progress.
Thanks for your patience everyone!

a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day

Did you ever have one of those days? My day started off with one of my favorite thing... Virtual Bernina Club. As I was getting ready, I noticed the webinar movie that we watch during the meeting was freezing on me. After a few minutes of panic and fear.... I remembered there was a power point presentation of the webinar on my CD. I had to put 4 zippers in during this class, that alone would normally have put me in bed for days, but it all worked out just fine!
I went to my new favorite deli, A Christophers, ( right next door to the quilt shop... yum yum)
I sat down to sew. I was trying to make a pineapple quilt from the Very Hungry Caterpillar fabrics.... I was going right along, until I went to square up my blocks.... and I squared them up to the wrong size. What to do? I put it away, this isn't the day to work on this project!
Did you ever have a day like that? I think I will start it again, just not today!

Are you still wondering what my project is from the last post.... stay tuned more pictures coming. Think of Chubby Checker!
Hmmmmmm. First this

an event? We need a quilt to celebrate

Yes, we have a new quilt to unveil at the Carnival of Charms/Shop hop this coming weekend.
Ginny decided that if a tumbler was fun and easy to do, a giant one would be even more fun and much more easier to do........
The pieces are giant size, it goes together very quickly. Our first one is in these dots.... but we have lots of ideas for more giant sized tumblers.
We will have kits for sale starting this Friday at our Carnival of Charms event.

Virtual Bernina Club

Our next meeting of Virtual Bernina Club is March 19th. The title of it is...... zippity do dah. Yes, we are going to learn about zippers. Today I worked on this pouch as a sample of what you can do with a zipper. This is a BERNINA series 8 project that you will get directions for in our club meeting. It was so much fun,and yes, I used my embroidery module. I don't use it very often, I am usually busy quilting or piecing. Using my BERNINA 830 I was able to take decorative stitches out of the sewing screen, put them in embroidery, then add them together with some of the built in embroidery designs. I am going to actually make another one, it was so fast and easy. Hope you can join us!
