It's show time once again!

The Northern Star Quilt Guild quilt show is this weekend. It opens on Saturday morning.
We are going to be a vendor there, complete with brand new tumbler kits, new fabric packs, new patterns, new books, new everything! Stop in to see us there!

Let's twist again!

I finished the top! I love this quilt. It was a lot of fun to make. This is the Let's twist quilt, made with the large and small twister tools. Now to layer it and quilt it! We have the tools and the book at the Quilt Shop! Stop in to get yours soon!

stitch in the ditch

Did you get your new Stitch in the Ditch attachment for your BERNINA walking foot yet? It makes straight line machine quilting a breeze! We have them in stock. Stop in to see it soon! The Quilt Shop is open tomorrow, 9-5, but we are closed on Sunday for Easter!

It's time for a contest

It's our first annual Messiest Sewing Room contest!
Here is how it works
Bring in your picture of a messiest sewing room.
Put your name on the back... no one will know who's picture it is!
We will post the pictures in the store, ( no names, just numbers)
From May 1 to May 15th, our customers will vote for the messiest sewing room.
On May 15th we will count the votes and find out winner!
Our winner will get a wonderful prize.
So don't clean those rooms.... take pictures. The messier the better.
Bring those pictures into the Quilt Shop anytime before May 1st.

Reilly's baptism

Reilly was baptized last weekend. That's his mom Ginger, and his dad Terri.
What a beautiful family!
The Quilt Shop is busy getting ready for the Northern Star Quilt Guild show. Lots of new packs and kits will be there! :) Mark your calendars now... April 30th and May 1st. JFK High School, Somers NY.

the wheels on the bus....

Another day in Quilt Shop history. our first bus trip came to see us! We had a wonderful group of 38 ladies who were on their way home from a trip to Lancaster. They were just the most wonderful ladies, their first order of business... a group picture.


and then it was time to shop.... and they had fun!



After their visit, they decided to get a quick lunch. About 15 minutes later, part of their group returned announcing... "we have 18 more minutes to shop"
Finally, they gathered up their goodies and were on their way home.
Thanks ladies for coming to see us!

Virtual BERNINA Club

Today was our Virtual BERNINA Club meeting. We learned about this great pattern, the composition covers from Indygo Junction. Our webinar taught us about using the needle punch tool and machine embroidery to embellish the covers. Then we learned about bobbin play with decorative threads. Everyone had a great time!
Our next meeting will be June 4th, it's called the Great Cover Up.
We will be learning about pintucks, flat felled seams, and heirloom sewing. Virtual Bernina Club is free, but you need to sign up so we know how many people are coming. Everyone is welcome, BERNINA owners and Non BERNINA owners. Word of warning, once you see what these great BERNINA machines will do, you will want one!

a great and groovy day!

Our Groovy girl meeting was today. It was a blast.
It started off with a wonderful show and tell.
We learned how to make a quick mom and daughter apron, then the real fun started.
It was our first Groovy Girl race. We had two teams of 5... each team was given a small box with charm squares, buttons, needles, one spool of thread, one thimble, and a Clover Desktop needle threader. They had to sew one button on each charm square as fast as they could....

She's got it bad.....

We had one of our newer quilters Teresa come to see us today. She brought her first project with her, this beautiful table runner that she cut and pieced herself. As she was showing it, we heard her say.... " I didn't shower, I didn't get dressed, I just sewed" Welcome to the world of quilting! We've all had days like that! Nice job Teresa!

a new fling....

Ginny has been a busy bee this week. She finished a new Fabric Fling, using the new Martha Negly fabrics that we got last week!
I love this! We have the pattern at the store and the fabrics.
Reilly is getting christened this weekend, but we have a busy weekend at the Quilt Shop.
Saturday is our Honey Bun Poof class. Sunday is Groovy Girls and Trip around the world.

Susie Sew gets busy!

Susie Sew is busy as a bee,
Packing things in bins is her way you see....
Oh my, how many bins will it take
for a clean room for Susie to make!

Her sewing room was a mess, don't you know.
Tried as she might,
In day or in night,
Her tears just started to flow.....

I can do it , said she...
Just little ol me.
I'll find the floor,
I'll find the door,
My sewing will come back, you'll see.
