color around us

It is just so gloomy, I think we are all tired of the rain. I'm noticing the positive side of this rain, my flowers are just growing like crazy! I'm seeing lots of color all of a sudden. I found these geraniums last week, I just love that color. Now I'm thinking quilt, that lavender and the green. Hmmmmmm.
Have you ever based a quilt around a plant or a flower? Even as I look out the window now, I can see gray skies, but green leaves with it.
Need a pick me up? Come to the Quilt Shop. You will be in a sea of color and find inspiration all around you!
Stay safe everyone!

Rainy days....

Yesterday I made this great new bag by Terry Atkinson. She is my favorite quilt and pattern designer. This is one of her 5 new patterns, called Wine and Dine. It has a pattern for a wine bag and a lunch bag. I used the coated fabrics we have at the Quilt Shop, so it is easy to clean.
This is the outside.....

There is a beverage holder on one side...
and silverware holders on the other side.

I made this in an afternoon, it was so easy. I did use my teflon foot on my BERNINA 440 to help sew the coated fabric. We will be getting this pattern in stock this week.
Come see it in person!

It's as easy as that.

Bedrunners

Don't want to make a whole quilt? Want something pretty on your bed? This is for you! We have a great new book called Bedrunners. ( don't worry, I didn't know what it was either). A bedrunner is a long skinny quilt that drapes the end of your bed. It adds a touch of color to your room, and takes no time at all to make compared to a big king sized quilt. Amy made this one out of her favorite Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I love the way she added the yo yos to the centers of the flowers. We have the book in stock. Call us and we can send it to you, or better yet, come see us. We are open tomorrow from 12-4.

Great new book

Jennifer Paganelli has written a wonderful new book, filled with 21 sewing projects to make for little girls. If you are a mom or a grandma to a little girl, you need this book! The projects are just beautiful. We have it in stock now, call us or stop by the store to pick up your copy!

Quilts of Valor

Have you signed up yet for our Quilts of Valor event in June? We still have some spots open, but they wont be open for long, so sign up this week. We need coaches and rookies! The quilt you are making will be this patriotic tumbler.
The finished quilts will be sent to the wonderful members of our armed forces who are keeping us all safe! This is a great way to thank them for all that they do.
We are open tomorrow, Mothers Day, from 12-3. Call and sign up soon!

The cover up!

I just finished this jacket for our next Virtual BERNINA Club. Sometimes quilters don't realize that they have the sewing skills needed to make garments. This jacket was easy to make, and I added lots of decorative techniques to make it a one of a kind. There is a new foot from BERNINA called the Corded Pintuck Foot. I will be demonstrating it at our next Virutal BERNINA Club meeting on June 4th. This foot allows you to use a double needle to make corded pintucks and then use the grooves on the foot to put decorative stitching between the pintucks.
Virtual BERNINA club is open to everyone. Just call to sign up! We'd love to have you!

when you open the cupboard.....

This blog is becoming more like a Fabrics Anonymous meeting. I decided to reorganize one of my fabric cupboards. This was a chance to find old friends that I haven't seen in years, and also a chance to ask myself..... "what was I thinking.
It also made me realize how far quilting fabrics have come in the last 25 years. Some of these fabrics that I have were from the early 1980's when I first started quilting. I kept some of them, why? Emotional attachment I guess. So I went and got a big trash bag, and started filling it. I give a lot of my old fabrics to project Linus, or to the Senior Center. One cupboard down, 3 more to go.

Now here is the challenge of the day..... this is a very old fabric. Yes, that is the statue of Liberty, but who is that behind her? Do you remember who designed this fabric? Post a comment!
The Somers show was a big hit. Tomorrow Ginny and Lois come back to put the store back together again! Thanks to everyone who came to the show.
