Bye Bye November

The mad rush is on.... December starts tomorrow.  How many gifts can you make?  The key is plan ahead.  Some gifts you can assembly line sew.  Lots of my friends are getting the Lollipop Bag from Atkinson Designs this year.  I can cut and sew several at one time.  Plus my BERNINA makes it easy to do decorative stitching just to make my homemade gifts, look store bought or better than store bought

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, iimproved!

 These are the new Very Hungry Caterpillar fabrics from Andover Fabrics.  There is a new dot fabric, with the caterpillar peeking out of some dots.... a new all over caterpillar print, and a new food print.  If you missed out on the last Caterpillar group, come on over an get yours now!  We have some great quilts made from these fabrics.

Time to trim the tree

I just finished this on Friday morning. It is a new pattern from Eleanor Burns, called Trim the Tree. It was a breeze to make, and lots of fun to decorate. I got to use all of those holiday buttons I have been collecting forever. We have the pattern at the store, along with the ruler you will need to make it. Stop in to get yours today.

There is a new display at the Quilt Shop.  Look at all the adorable baby fabrics that we have now.  Best part is... we have some soft and cozy Minkee fabrics that are great for quilt backs or for a baby throw.

Virtual BERNINA Club

Groovy.......

Today was our November Groovy Girls Meeting.  As usual, we had a great time.  Our show and tells get better and better each time.  Our theme this month was "Fiesta", but I turned it into a birthday party!  Sad to say no one had a birthday, but everyone will be ready for the next time! 

Our project this month was a chair cover and matching placemat.

a new foot, at least for me

I thought I knew every BERNINA foot that there was.... but today I found a new one. 
#38.  #38 does an awesome job on attaching Velcro.  I always hated putting velcro on to anything, but this foot made it so easy.  It is a specially designed foot for attaching thinker trims.  One side of the foot is low, the other is high. 

That's what is so great about BERNINA machines, there is a foot for every kind of sewing you could think of!

Our first Jelly Roll Race is over!  I think we all slept soundly last night.  We did have so much fun. 
The best part was... everyone finished, and everyone had a great time. 
Remember, the next Jelly Roll Race is on November 19th. 

I'm starting to think about the gifts that I need to get made for   Christmas.   I don't want to think about it!  

I found a great new pattern from Terry Atkinson of Atkinson Deisgns-  the Lollipop bag.  I made this cute bag this morning, in about 90 minutes.  If you skip the rosette and put a button or a yo yo, it would take even less time.     The bag comes in two sizes.  This is the large version.  The bottom is boxed so it stands up.  We just ordered the patterns, so they should be in stock soon.  If you want us to save you one, just call and let us know.... 203-743-0543.

and we have a winner

 Today was our Jelly Roll Races.  Our winner-  Donna Orrico, who finished her quilt top in 45 minutes.  Everyone had a great time, and came away with a beautiful quilt top.  We are doing it again on November 19th.... gather your friends and come join us!  Prizes, snacks, goodie bags, and lots of laughs!  We open tomorrow at 12-  call us and sign up.  You don't want to miss all of the fun!

Have you tried making yo yos yet?

No power?  No sewing machine, ( even if you have a generator, don't use your computerized sewing machine on it), how about hand sewing, yes I said hand sewing.
Have you tried making yo yos with the Clover Yo Yo makers?  It is fast and easy, and they come out perfectly!

Can't sew?  No Power?  You can still cut.... especially if you treat yourself to the new GO cutter from Accuquilt.  I cleaned my sewing room, ( sort of).  I found a bunch of fabrics that were too small for any big project, but just too big to throw away.  I spent the afternoon cutting squares, triangles, etc.
